Burgoo Bash Set for March 18

Kentucky’s second favorite export, Burgoo, will get an overdue spotlight moment in a hands-on, upcoming event being put together by the Against the Grain team on Saturday, March 18, at 3 p.m.

Against the Grain will be host to Louisville’s 2nd annual Burgoo Bash: a Pro-Am cook-off (sponsored by Monk’s Road Bourbon) aimed at bringing out the best amateur and professional Burgoo makers in the region.

Burgoo, the uniquely Kentucky stew, is interpreted in a multitude of ways and they’re all welcomed to be showcased at the Burgoo Bash. Participants will compete for top honors in three categories: Most Creative Recipe, The People’s Choice and a panel of celebrity judges will select Best In Show. Prizes include trophies, gift certificates and more, but most importantly, bragging rights!

The competition is open to the first 20 participants with 15 spots reserved for home chefs and 5 spots for restaurant entrants. For only $10 per person, attendees will get to taste all of the burgoos and vote on their favorite one.

As part of the Burgoo Bash, Against the Grain will host its inaugural ProAm cocktail-making contest. Both divisions will include 15 contestants. Contestants will have seven minutes to prepare a cocktail before a panel of judges from Against the Grain, Log Still Distillery, and three celebrity judges.

A portion of the total tickets sold will be proudly benefitting APRON, Inc. Apron is a local non-profit assisting professional food and beverage workers in the Louisville, KY metro area working at locally-owned establishments and who are experiencing financial distress due to illness, accident, emergency or catastrophic events through no fault of their own.
