Kentucky is Not a Great Place to be Single, per New WalletHub Study

Recently, WalletHub released a study telling us Kentucky was not a great place to raise a family. Well, guess what? According to yet another study, it sucks for singles too.

Kentucky can’t catch a break, at least if you believe these reports.

In the latest WalletHub study, Kentucky ranks 45th on the Best & Worst States for Singles list. Unless the United States recently added 150 states without my knowing it, that’s not good.

WalletHub compared the 50 states across 30 key indicators of dating-friendliness. The data set ranged from the share of single adults to online-dating opportunities to restaurants per capita. What the study found was that Kentucky ranked 44th in “Dating Opportunities,” 26th in “Dating Economics” and 25th in “Romance & Fun,” for a composite score of 39.28.

Louisville placed ahead of only Mississippi, Wyoming, North Dakota, Arkansas and West Virginia. The top states for dating, according to the study, are California, New York, Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania.

(But really, only 44th in “Dating Opportunities?” Have these people never heard of a bourbon bar?)

Moreover, in a November 2021 study by WalletHub, Louisville ranked 85th on a list of 182 Best & Worst Cities for Singles. In categories of “Economics,” “Fun & Recreation” and “Dating Opportunities,” Louisville ranked 46th, 61st and 139th, respectively. The top city in America to be single? Madison, Wisc. Glendale, Calif., ranked last.

Nashville placed 66th for singles, while Indianapolis ranked 98th and Cincinnati 25th.
