The Taste Bud: Peanut Butter Wings are a Real Thing, and They’re Delicious

Even though I’m not a big consumer of sweets, I’ve had a lifelong love affair with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Something about that combination of chocolate and peanut butter just hits my palate right. But I don’t think I expected how much I would like Chocolate Pizza Company’s Peanut Butter Wings.

Yes, that’s right: wings. But I promise no chickens were harmed in the making of these delicious treats.

The best way I can think to describe Peanut Butter Wings is to have you imagine a Girl Scouts Tagalong cookie, but take away the cookie – and in its place add a Ruffles potato chip.

The firs time I bit into unsuspectingly bit into one, it was an “oh my god” moment from the first crunch. Seriously, it’s worth it to order some and give it a try if you’re a Reese’s head like me. Why? For starters, the peanut butter Chocolate Pizza Company uses for these tastes like actual peanut butter, as if it was just dipped from a freshly-opened jar.

Think about it: The stuff inside a Reese’s is heavily sweetened, and the texture is not creamy like actual peanut butter. This stuff is. And it pops with peanut flavor, not overly sweet. Hey, the chocolate is already sweet, right? No need to overdo it.

Next, the rippled potato chip (this is not a Ruffles product, I just dropped that product name for familiarity’s sake) adds a familiar crunch that a cookie doesn’t quite get. And on top of that, there’s an extra hint of saltiness from the chip. And I can’t say I ever thought chocolate and peanut butter would go well with … a potato.

I can’t say I’m familiar with Glitter magazine, but in promotional materials the Chocolate Pizza Company includes this quote from the magazine: “Let’s talk about these Peanut Butter Wings. You have not lived until you’ve tried them. The blend of salty chips mixed with peanut butter and chocolate will leave your head swirling.”

Seriously, these things are addictive. I like eating a few as a snack with a glass of cold milk, like I’m an 8-year-old. And I got the milk chocolate version – there also is a dark chocolate version, which I would probably like even better.

Now I’m left to figure out if I wrote anything in this post quote-worthy enough for the Chocolate Pizza Company to use in its promotional materials.
