Pints & Union’s New Menu Features Pub’s Take on Indian Fare

A favorite public house in the Louisville area, Pints & Union, located at 114 E. Market St. in downtown New Albany, had since opening relied on an eclectic menu that featured everything from a smash burger to gyros to tikka masala tacos. But the pub recently unveiled a revamped menu for fall and winter that focuses on Indian street food.

One full section of the menu focuses on curry dishes while a second section is titled “Indian Street Snacks.” Curry dishes include Korma, Vindaloo, Saag and Tika Masala, all priced at 15 bucks. As for the street snacks, check out items like Gobi Manchurian (crispy cauliflower tossed in sweet and spicy Manchurian sauce) and Mirchi Ka Pakoda (jalapeno peppers stuffed with paneer and cream cheese, battered in besan butter and fried). Naan is also a staple of the menu, and there’s also a tempting assortment of chutneys, from tamarind to coriander.

A recent special was Vada Pav, described as “basically a big potato fritter on a slider bun with coriander chutney and Bibb lettuce.”

If you’re a fan of the original menu, however, don’t panic — the “Pub Favorites” menu still offers the burger, spicy chicken sandwich, Scotch egg and fish and chips.

Of course, don’t sleep on the beer menu and cocktail program. I enjoyed a Fuller’s London Porter at the bar just the other day. Excepting the Irish Rover, P&U is arguably the closest we’ve got to a true pub from across the pond.
