Taste for Life, Honoring Anthony Bourdain, Returns June 25

Chris Williams, owner and chef of Four Pegs Beer Lounge, 20-plus chefs and industry workers will come together once again June 25 to honor Anthony Bourdain, an American Celebrity Chef, Author, and Travel Documentarian who inspired service industry workers across the world hitting home in Louisville, KY.

The 3rd Annual A Taste for Life is helping those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and the challenging day to day dealings of working in the service industry.

“With A Taste for Life, we want to hammer home the point that working in the service industry is incredibly hard on those who make and serve our guests’ food,” Williams said in a news release. “Working long hours and nights in this business often keeps us away from our loved ones, family, and friends and that puts us at risk for mental illness, addiction, and suicide. If we don’t talk about these things and help people find available resources, the stigma continues. We want to let people know it’s ok to not be ok.”

The celebration closing down Spratt Street will feature chefs’ samplings of signature dishes (unlimited sampling), cash bar, live music, and speakers from NAMI and The Pete Foundation who will be the beneficiaries of the event.  NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. The Pete Foundation’s mission is to Rally communities to champion youth mental health and wellness through normalizing the topic, promoting education and providing tools for healthy emotional development.

The event is 3-8 p.m. and will include music by Hot Brown Smackdown. It will be held on Spratt Street alongside Four Pegs Smokehouse and Bar, which is located at 1053 Goss Ave.
