The Great Chicken Sandwich Wars just got a new contender — Louisville-based Joella’s Hot Chicken now has a chicken slider. They’re calling it the Lil’ Sammie Slider.

Yep, it’s basically a small version of the regular chicken sandwich, and you can get them either grilled or fried at any of the chain’s six heat levels, from Southern to Fire-In Da-Hole. They come as a meal with either two or three sliders, one side and a a dipping sauce. The two-slider meal is $8.30 and the three-slider deal is $10.50.

Remember when KFC called its chicken sliders Chicken Littles? No? I’m old.

“We know that people love our Grilled and Fried Tenders – in fact, they’re our most popular items on the menu,” Katie Wollrich, Joella’s chief marketing officer, said in a press release that was rife with keywords and marketing speak. “But we also realized the Tenders and our Big Sammie chicken sandwiches aren’t exactly the easiest to eat when you’re not seated at a table. That’s why we came up with the new Lil’ Sammie Sliders – to give Joella’s fans the option to order the items they’re craving, but in a more ‘portable’ serving. We’re always looking for ways to improve upon our guest’s experience at Joella’s, and we think this new menu item really hits the spot and meets that mission!”

(The exclamation point was theirs, not mine.)

Lil’ Sammie Sliders have been added as a permanent menu item and are available at all Joella’s locations in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.
