Two more Louisville restaurants have closed or are closing before the end of the year: The Fuelery in Clifton and Amici’ Cafe in Old Louisville.

The Fuelery, a health-conscious grab-and-go eatery located at 2011 Frankfort Ave., announced on its Facebook page it will permanently close as of Dec. 31. It’s another restaurant, joining Faces Bar/Bistro, that opened during the covid pandemic to announce its closure this week.

“The world is a different world now than what it’s been in the past, particularly in the hospitality industry,” The Fuelery’s announcement read. “What may have worked then, or in the future, now gets pushed to the limits to survive. This pandemic has taken its toll on everyone, in so many ways, and unfortunately we are not exempt from those effects.”

Many small businesses are citing covid-related issues ranging from staffing to supply-chain hiccups as ongoing challenges as the pandemic wears on. Many have closed already and many others are struggling.

“We did the best we could for all of you, to provide a welcoming, clean, and bright environment, with delicious food made with local products,” The Fuelery announcement continued. “We’re proud to say we believe we did exactly that. So this is not a moment for sadness. We can all walk away with our heads held high knowing we did everything we could, and made a lot of people happy in the process.

“So with that being said, we’d like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us since we opened. This has been an educating and growing experience for the whole team, and we couldn’t have done it without all of you.”

Amici' Cafe, meanwhile, closed Oct. 31 and had not reopened. Local media reports have confirmed that owner Don Reinhardt Jr. indicates he won’t reopen the restaurant in another location. Amici’ Cafe had been open for nearly 15 years, with Reinhardt purchasing it in 2017.
